Albert came to us as a foster in November, just before Thanksgiving. He came in with a heart busting at the seams with love and we didn’t know it at the time, but we would end up really needing to lean on him for that love to help us heal our broken hearts.
We had only had Bert with us for about 2 1/2 weeks before we very unexpectedly lost Fig. Fig was our heart dog, and I don’t even have words for how hard his loss was on us. But Bert was there everyday after to take on the role of healer, love supplier, and chaos distracter, and he did it VERY well. We will never look to replace our Fig, instead we will keep growing the love he gave us.
After everything that happened with Fig, we feel so strongly that Fig chose Bert to continue on with us. Bert is far from perfect, we are in the teenage stage now and he tests us everyday. But we are so thankful he is a part of our family.
